How to Solve Your Weight Loss Crisis

For those of you that are having trouble loosing weight, I have the answers for you!  If you have been trying to loose weight for some time and you haven't seen any results the following reasons might be able to explain your troubles:

dumbbell
  • Just because you are eating healthy, doesn't mean you don't need to use moderation
  • You cannot loose weight by just working out, you need to be eating healthy too.
  • Being stressed can hinder your ability to loose weight
  • Your not eating as healthy as you think you are
  • You are excising in the incorrect fashion
  • You are not consistent, with your healthy eating or working out
  • You  are eating back all of the calories that you burn
  • You aren't getting enough sleep
  • You are eating too much dairy
  • Or you are simply just adding muscle

Using moderation:It is important to remember that, just because you are eating healthy meals, doesn't mean you can eat as much of your meal that you want.  It is still important to make sure that you aren't overeating, for this can counteract the calories that you burn in your workouts.  It is important to look online to see based on your weight the proper amount of calories you can take in and to make sure you stick to this when you are trying to loose weight.

It takes two:You cannot expect to loose weight if you are just working out and not eating healthy just like you cannot expect to just eat healthy and not workout to loose weight.  Working out and eating healthy are a pair and you need to do both if you want to see results.  You don't have to be the worlds number one healthy eater and you don't have to go to the gym two times a day, but it is important to see the balance between the two and too adjust accordingly.

Being stressed out won't help either:According to marksdailyapple.com, "stress causes the body to produce cortisol, the flight-or-flight hormone that catabolizes muscle, women's insulin resistance and promotes the storage of fat."  If you are stressed, which these days most of us are it can actually hinder your ability to loose weight.  That is why it is important to focus on relaxation whether it be by taking yoga, resting for an hour each night by yourself or even by not procrastinating and always leaving yourself enough time to get things done.

Not eating as healthy as you think:Although you might think that buying a microwaveable instant meal from the frozen section is beneficial it is actually not.  The amount of salt in these meals is off the charts outrageous and it can actually be hurting your health more then it is helping it.

Your not exercising correctly:Sprinting is not considered your "fitness routine" you need to be careful when it comes to this.  If you go so hard in the first ten minutes of your workout it is hard to get the rest of your workout in.  That is why it is important to go hard throughout your workout but to also remember to pace yourself so you can complete your whole workout correctly.

You aren't consistent:If you don't follow a consistent routine when it comes to working out and eating healthy it can be easy to fail at weight loss.  You cannot expect to workout and eat healthy for a week and see results, or even for a month for that matter.  You need to be consistent if you want to see results.  Even if being consistent means working out and eating healthy for a whole year to achieve the results you want.

You are eating the calories that you are burning:Like I have mentioned in my post about moderation, it is important that you are not eating all of the calories that you burn.  This can actually lead to gaining weight as opposed to your goal, which is to loose weight.

You aren't getting enough sleep:Believe it or not, even the amount of sleep that you get at night can hinder your weight loss.  This can happen because when you are more tired, you are more tempted to drink that extra coffee drink at work or even eat that extra doughnut for that quick energy burst.  According to Susan Zafarlotfi, PhD, clinical director of the Institute for Sleep and Wake Disorders at Hackensack University Medical Center in New Jersey, "when you have sleep deprivation and are running on low energy, you automatically go for a bag of potato chips or other comfort foods."  Since not getting enough sleep directly correlates with resorting to comfort foods, it is important to always try and get enough sleep every night.

You're eating too much dairy:Dairy is high in sugar and not as nutritional as you would think.  According to goodfoodeating.com, "the sugar content in dairy is not off the air high but it's enough to elevate your insulin levels."  I also found it astonishing that, the lower in fat your milk gets, the higher it is in sugar content!  Regular milk has 4.7% sugar content, reduced fat milk has 5.3% and low fat milk has 6.5%.  Can you believe that!  When it comes to how nutritious milk is for you, goodfoodeating.com has us look at milks breakdown: 87.6% water, carbohydrates 4.7%, fat 12%, protein 8g, vitamin A 4%, calcium 28%. Although milk has the calcium that we need, other products such as canned salmon have calcium too, and is a much better alternative to get the nutrients that you need.

You could just be adding muscle:Most people don't realize it, when all they see is weight gain every time they step on the scale but sometimes adding muscle can cause your weight to increase.  This is obviously a good thing, so it is nothing to worry about if you start to actually gain weight from working out.  Make sure to remember this when you begin to work out so you don't become discouraged!
All in all it is important to take these tips with you on your roads to becoming healthy and fit individuals.  Remembering these tips will be your key to success and will leave you feeling much better as well, so get started today!
