The Powers Of Matcha

As I have raved about in my previous blog post about the new and upcoming Matcha Powder.  I want everyone to take to emphasize all of the benefits that matcha has to offer, because in reality, there are so many to point out.

Where does matcha come from?
Matcha is a premium green tea powder from Japan that is used for drinking as tea or as an ingredient in recipes.  While there are many places in the world where green teas are grown, Japan is specifically known for its matcha. Matcha is the heart of the Japanese way of tea and has been celebrated throughout Japan for many years.

What are the benefits of matcha?I have mentioned some of the benefits of matcha in my previous blog posts, but there are so many more to point out that I thought it deserved its very own page on my blog.  Matcha is a mood-enhancing antioxidant powerhouse, a natural weight loss aid, a pH balancer and detox agent, a sugar-free coffee alternative (aka you get the focus you need without getting the jitters), a cancer fighter, it is rich in chlorophyll and vitamins, it provides vitamin c, selenium, chromium, zinc and magnesium, and it even lowers cholesterol and blood sugar.  If all of these benefits still don't make you want to become a matcha follower then keep reading.  As I stated, matcha is known to fight cancer.  Now I know most of you are thinking how could a drink so powerful be so unknown and how does it even prevent cancer in the first place.  Well according to matchasource.com, "good nutrition is the single practical preventative measure women have to fight against breast cancer and matcha tea delivers a mega-dose of cancer-fighting EGCg (epigallocatechin 3-gallate) in every serving."  For those of you who don't know what this EGCg exactly is, it is an antioxidant that is only found in green tea and it is the catechin with the most renowned-cancer fighting properties.  EGCg makes up 60% of the catechin content of matcha tea and matcha contains up to four times the catechins of regular brewed green tea.  It is believed that the way that EGCg plays a role in the prevention of cancer is by helping to kill cancerous cells and by stopping their progression. Scientists have even found that matcha has proven to increase breast cancer survival rates and that it  also inhibits tumors.  Dr. Kristi Pado Funk from the Pink Lotus Breast Center in Beverly Hills, even states that, "three cups of green tea a day decreases breast cancer risk by half."

If you buy matcha today it is gurarenteed that:
  • You risk for cancer will be reduced.
  • Your blood pressure and cholesterol will be lowered.
  • Your risk for depression will be reduced or even abolished all together!
  • Your body will become calm and relaxed.
  • You will be receiving the vitamins you need.
  • You will also be receiving all of the antioxidants you need with just one drink.

Different ways to consume matcha:Now that I have been able to show you why match is a necessity in your daily life.  It is important to know what you do with it once you receive it.  There are many different ways to prepare matcha, to make sure that it is enjoyable to all of those that consume it.

Three different ways to prepare your matcha:
  • Using a bamboo whisk and a tea bowl
  • Using just a cup
  • Or using matcha as an ingredient

Once you have prepared your matcha, these are some ways that you can include your prepared matcha into your meals:
  • In your smoothies
  • When your baking, it can be used as an ingredient
  • You can even include it in your lattes!

Smoothie Lover?

For all of you smoothie lovers out there I have decided to post ways to incorporate matcha into your daily smoothies.  You can simply find many other reciepes including this one on matchasource.com.

The matcha smoothie that I will be demonstrating how to make here is a fruity one.  Since fruit is good to incorporate into your daily diet, I thought both would be a double win and a great option for this post.

Ingredients:
-1/4 cup blueberries, rasberries or blackberries - washed, frozen are ok.
-1/2 cup of yogurt (plain yogurt, unless you have other preferences)

Once you have all of your ingredients prepared and ready to go all you need to do is blend them together in a electric blender, pour your blended drink into a tall glass and drink it immediately!  You can experiment with the fruits you use in this recipe, the website suggests kiwis, bananas, mangos or even using flavors such as mint or ginger.  With so many options to choose from there is definitely a chance that all of you smoothie lovers will be able to find the right matcha smoothie for you!

Where can I buy my matcha?
If you plan on buying your matcha in store, make sure to call the grocery store ahead of time. The stock will depend on location so, it is important to make sure that you don't make the trip if it isn't carried in store.  I would suggest checking stores such as whole foods and the fresh market if you have those in your area, for they will be your best bet for finding your matcha powder in store.  If you prefer to order online, all you have to search is, "where can i buy organic matcha powder" and millions of options will pop up.  I prefer to use Amazon to order my matcha powder.  The matcha I order for myself is the #1 best seller on Amazon and has great reviews!  Check it our for yourself here: Organic Matcha Powder.  For a low price of just 23.75, it just can't be beat!  So order your matcha today and begin taking the steps to a healthier lifestyle.
